If walls could talk, Malaga’s historical city centre would tell an epic tale of transformation. On this walking tour, you’ll decode the buildings in one of Spain’s oldest cities, learning about its origins as a Phoenician trading post, an Islamic stronghold and, finally, a modern Mediterranean destination.
This self-guided walking tour starts in front of Monumento al Marqués de Larios, the statue commemorating the industrialist who contributed to the city’s development in the 1800s. From there, you’ll stroll along Muelle Uno (the revitalised waterfront promenade) before making your way into the historical centre. As you walk, Manuel, an architect specialising in Andalusian historical architecture and urbanism, will share the stories behind the landmarks.
