We recommend entry to the British Museum via Montague Place (North entrance) to skip the lines. Entry can also be made from Great Russell Street which is the Main entrance. Cloakroom charges are as follows: coats £2, bags weighing up to 4kg £2.50, bags between 4-8kg £5, and umbrellas at £1.. The following items are not allowed: large bags exceeding 8kg in weight, wheeled luggage, folding bicycles, among others. For a complete list of prohibited items, please check the British Museum's website.. Pushchairs are allowed on the premises. You can leave foldable strollers and buggies in the cloakroom at no cost
