What To Expect

Auburn Avenue African American All Inclusive Tour is designed to give guests an overview of Black life and culture in Atlanta, starting from Juneteenth/Emancipation Day,1865 to Atlanta modern Civil Rights Movement, 1965. Heavy emphasis will be placed on Rosenwald educational system for Black students in Atlanta and Booker T Washington who was known as the Great Black Educator. Come and see the relationship between Alonzo Herndon, George Washington Carver, and Julius Rosenwald Foundation.
Guests will see Atlanta Historic Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), Georgia's first Black public high school and America's first Black city park. Booker T Washington High School was the first black public high school in Georgia and the first Black school in the Atlanta Public School System. Come and see how Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Grandfather organized the community to create a public high school for Black students in Atlanta. Dr. Martin Luther graduated from this school.
